The Mojave Prickly Pear can be characterized by its thin, wide, flat, and green paddle-shaped pads. The flowers are usually bright yellow with reddish centers, but are sometimes peach, pinkish or reddish overall. The edible fruits have a mild watermelon or pear flavor and are known to make a wonderful jam.
