The Lake Havasu City Maintenance Services Division has announced that the 2015-2016 Chip Seal Program is scheduled to begin April 11, 2016, and will take approximately seven weeks to complete, depending on weather and other conditions. This chip seal project is part of the City’s annual pavement preservation program and consists of placing approximately 1,200,000 square yards of polymer-modified chip seal surface on approximately 58 miles of streets and parking lots in various portions of the city. The chip sealing process is an efficient and cost effective method of prolonging the useable service life of asphalt pavement.
Residents and businesses located along streets where chip seal is scheduled to be applied will receive a detailed door hanger notice in advance of the construction and again 24 hours prior to the work starting. The City asks that residents refrain from parking on the streets and to remove all vehicles from the streets during the time that they are scheduled to be sealed, and to avoid letting running water into the street during this time.
The City appreciates your patience and cooperation during the street sealing process. Motorists traveling on a street being chip sealed can expect delays due to street sealing activities and possible flagging to direct traffic flow. Speed limit reductions will be in effect through the work areas. Traffic cones, arrows, and other devices will delineate travel lanes; however, motorists can expect some lane and access restrictions and it is recommended that motorists use alternate routes whenever possible.
As always, the public is requested to use caution and obey all traffic signs when traveling through construction zones.
