March 06, 2018

Over the past several weeks, detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU), which is part of the Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team (MAGNET), have been conducting an investigation involving a subject allegedly selling methamphetamine throughout Lake Havasu City.

On March 1, at approximately 8:40 p.m., with the assistance of the Lake Havasu City Police Department SWAT team and Criminal Investigations Unit a search warrant was served in the 600 block of Paseo Granada.  During the service of the search warrant, detectives located approximately 35 grams of methamphetamine, a couple of ounces of marijuana, a small amount of cocaine and four handguns.  Information was discovered during the first search warrant which led detectives to believe additional items were being stored at a second location.

On March 2, at approximately 2:15 a.m., the Lake Havasu City Police Department Criminal and Special Investigations Unit served a second warrant in the 1700 block of North Palo Verde Boulevard.  During the service of the second warrant, detectives located an additional 143 grams of methamphetamine, several ounces of marijuana, twelve firearms and several thousand rounds of ammunition.

As a result of the investigation, 60-year-old Lake Havasu City resident Lance G. Davey was arrested and charged with possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of narcotic drugs, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drugs in a school zone due to living within one thousand feet of a school, misconduct involving weapons due to being a prohibited possessor, possession of a deadly weapon during a drug offense and possession of a prohibited sawed-off shotgun.

Davey was also charged with failing to register as a sex offender as he was previously convicted of child molestation in the 1980s and failed to register with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

During his initial appearance, Lance G. Davey was held on a $150,000 cash only bond and transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
