On August 05, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., officers with the Lake Havasu City Police Department were dispatched to the 1500 block of Palo Verde Boulevard South in reference to an armed robbery that just occurred.
While officers were on their way to the initial robbery call, Lake Havasu City Police Dispatch received another report of an armed robbery that had just occurred in the 700 block of Lake Havasu Avenue North. The second caller provided a similar vehicle and suspect description of the initial call.
While responding to these incidents, an officer observed the suspect vehicle, and a vehicle pursuit occurred. During the vehicle pursuit, the suspect was observed throwing money out of the window of the vehicle. Ultimately, the vehicle stopped in the 3000 block of Mescalero Drive. The suspect was taken into custody without incident with the assistance of deputies from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect has been identified as Tony Lee Crawford, a 40-year-old Lake Havasu City resident. Tony was charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of disorderly conduct with a weapon, four counts of aggravated assault, one count of weapons misconduct (prohibited possessor), and one count of unlawful flight from law enforcement.
Tony was held on a total of $100,000 cash only bond after his initial appearance and transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility.
The Lake Havasu City Police Department Criminal Investigation Unit is conducting the investigation into this incident. The investigation is ongoing into the total amount of money taken from both robberies, but there has been a portion of the money recovered. At this time all involved parties are in custody and there is no risk to the community because of this incident.
