City Revives Public Works and Parks and Recreation Department Titles
August 15, 2018

Lake Havasu City is changing the names of the Operations and Community Services departments to what most residents are familiar with – Public Works and Parks and Recreation.  Changing the names of the departments to match the names of similar departments in other cities and towns in the state and across the country, provides existing and new residents with the clarity needed to easily contact the City with a specific question, comment or request for service.  The department services and structures remain unchanged.

The Public Works Department, formerly the Operations Department, continues to be responsible for providing streets, signage, storm cleanup, wash maintenance, maintaining parks, public facilities and open spaces, maintaining street lighting and traffic signals, water and sewer, airport, transit, and many more similar services.

The Parks and Recreation Department, formerly known as the Community Services Department, continues to be responsible for operating the Aquatic and Community Center, providing recreational programming to kids, adults and seniors, facilitating and hosting community events, overseeing the parks in our community, and many more services.

The changes are effective September 1, 2018.  For more information, contact the City Manager’s Office at 928-453-4141.
