Commercial Building Fire

At approximately 6:23 a.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2016, a fire was reported in the 2000 block of Industrial Boulevard at Mother Earth Granite. Several citizens, driving by, discovered smoke and flames coming from the rear of the building. The first arriving fire company reported heavy fire in a rear work area on the back side of the building and through the roof.  Four Engine Companies, one Truck Company, and a Battalion Chief responded to the fire and gained control of the fire in 51 minutes.  There was no one in the structure at the time of the fire. There were no reported injuries to the firefighters. Eight CERT members responded to the fire to assist with Rehab duties for the firefighters. Crews remained on the scene an additional two hours conducting salvage operations.  Damages were confined to the 25% of the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
