At approximately 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2024, smoke was reported by a neighboring business in the 1900 block of Mesquite Avenue. The smoke was believed to be coming from an air conditioning unit. The first arriving fire company reported a fire in the attic space of the main unit involved. Four Engine Companies and a Battalion Chief responded to the fire and gained control of the fire in 35 minutes. An employee discharged a fire extinguisher in the attic space prior to the fire department's arrival. All employees safely evacuated and were unharmed. Crews remained on the scene for an additional hour conducting salvage operations. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
