At approximately 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 23, 2024, the Lake Havasu City Fire Department was dispatched to a desert rescue at Sara Park. A female hiker was reported to be experiencing a heat-related injury and needed assistance. Two engine companies, two rescue side-by-sides, an ambulance, and the Battalion Chief responded to Sara Park and were able to locate the seven hikers within 12 minutes. Rescue side-by-sides assisted five of the hikers to the trailhead with no injuries. The remaining two hikers hiked back to the trailhead on their own.
