On September 17, at around 3:30 p.m., Lake Havasu City Police Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Beachcomber Boulevard in reference to a report of multiple gun shots being heard in the area. When officers arrived, they observed two females lying motionless outside of a residence. Upon closer examination the two females were found to have been fatally shot and killed.
Additionally, officers observed a male subject sitting motionless in a truck parked under the carport of the same residence. Upon closer examination, the male was also found to be deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The suspect was related to the victims as both a husband and a father. Preliminary investigations have determined that the suspect shot his wife and daughter from inside the residence as they arrived home. After taking their lives, the suspect exited the residence, walked to the truck, entered it, and then shot himself. The motive for the shooting remains unclear at this time and investigators are still working to piece that together.
The suspect is identified as 42-year-old Tobin Gottier. The first victim is identified as the suspect’s wife, 39-year-old Jamie Gottier, and the second victim is identified as their 14-year-old daughter Hannah Gottier.
