Eight Arrested During Search Warrant

On July 13, 2016, at approximately 7:25 p.m., officers from the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit along with detectives from the Special Investigations Bureau, which is part of the Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team (MAGNET), with the assistance from the Mohave County Probation Department, served a drug-related search warrant at a residence in the 100 Block of Mariposa Drive. The search warrant was a result of the Street Crimes Unit Officers and Mohave County Probation Officers viewing numerous drug related items inside the residence during an arrest.

Officers and detectives located and seized approximately three grams of methamphetamine, two syringes containing suspected heroin, a small amount of marijuana, and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.

Arrested during the search warrant were 25-year-old Kevin Harrington, 54-year-old Allen Payne, 26-year-old Heather McWhirter, 26-year-old Darrin Vinsant, 34-year-old Jeffrey Demaio, 30-year-old Ashley Barry, 30-year-old Tonisha McKinnis and 26-year-old Taylor Vanderlinden. All arrestees are residents of Lake Havasu City. 

Kevin Harrington was arrested for sale of narcotic drugs, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two arrest warrants. Allen Payne was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. Heather McWhirter was arrested for possession of dangerous drugs, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two arrest warrants. Darrin Vinsant was arrested for possession of dangerous drugs, possession of narcotic drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jeffrey Demaio was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and an arrest warrant. Ashley Barry was arrested for possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Tonisha McKinnis was arrested for possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Taylor Vanderlinden was arrested for possession of dangerous drugs, possession of narcotic drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jeffrey Demaio and Tonisha McKinnis were additionally charged with child abuse after the investigation revealed their three year old child was living in the residence and drug paraphernalia was within reach of the child.

During their initial appearances, Harrington, McWhirter and Barry were held with no bond. Vinsant, Demaio, McKinnis, and Vanderlinden were held on a $5,000 bond.  Payne was released on his own recognizance.
