On May 14, at approximately 8:15 p.m., the Lake Havasu City Police Department responded to a collision involving a passenger car and two motorcycles at the intersection of Kiowa Boulevard North and Date Palm Drive. The Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Accident Investigation Unit responded to investigate the collision.
A Subaru Cross Trek, being driven by a 24-year-old Flagstaff resident, was traveling eastbound on Kiowa Boulevard North when she attempted to make a left turn on Date Palm Drive. The driver, and sole occupant of the Subaru, failed to yield the right-of-way and drove into the path of two motorcycles traveling westbound on Kiowa Boulevard North.
The sole occupant of motorcycle number one was a 60-year-old female and part-time resident of Lake Havasu City. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. The sole occupant of motorcycle number two was a 61-year-old male and part-time resident of Lake Havasu City. He was transported from the scene to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The male and female motorcycle riders were married and both were professional test riders. Each of them was wearing protective riding gear and a helmet.
The accident remains under investigation and at this time no citations have been issued. There is no indication that speed or impairment were factors in the collision. There was no child involved in the accident.
