FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT JANUARY 2020
July 14, 2020

On January 19, 2020 Lake Havasu City Police Officers responded to a head on collision on State Route 95 near Falls Springs Wash, which is between Palo Verde Blvd. N. and Lake Drive. A green 2001 Land Rover driven by 28-year old Alaskan resident Scott Jezorski was traveling south bound, drifted left of center into oncoming traffic and struck a white 2008 Infiniti QX56 sport utility vehicle, which was travelling northbound in the far right lane.

The female driver of the Infiniti, 38 year-old Lake Havasu City resident Maria Ramirez-Rangle and her 10-year old daughter, Priscilla Venegas who was in the rear seat, suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Crash Investigation Team conducted a thorough investigation which lasted for several months, primarily due to lab analysis of Jezorski’s blood. Search warrants were also executed on both vehicles.

The investigation and results of the lab analysis determined it to be a medical issue that caused Jezorski to lose consciousness and collide with the other vehicle. Alcohol or drug Impairment was not a factor in the crash.

Due to no evidence to support that Jezorski was driving under the influence or that he was operating in a reckless manner as defined by the law, the Mohave County attorney’s office determined that there was no violation of the law.

The Sergeant of the Crash Investigation Team has been in regular contact with the victim’s family, providing all available information. Our condolences go out to the family as well as all members of the community affected by this tragedy.
