September 23, 2024

Detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, which is part of the Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team (MAGNET) have been conducting an investigation into a subject selling fentanyl throughout Lake Havasu City.

On September 19, 2024, at approximately 2:50 p.m., the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit conducted a traffic stop in the 2100 block of McCulloch Blvd North on a vehicle driven by 46-year-old Lake Havasu City resident James Krantz. During the course of the traffic stop, LHCPD K-9 “Echo” was utilized to perform an open-air sniff around the vehicle. As a result, Echo alerted to the odor of narcotic drugs inside the vehicle.

Detectives conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered approximately 11,000 suspected fentanyl pills, a useable quantity of methamphetamine, and various items of drug paraphernalia. The street value of the fentanyl pills is estimated to be $70,000.

Krantz was arrested and charged with possession of narcotic drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

During his initial appearance, Krantz was held on a $50,000 cash bond and transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
