Detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, which is part of the Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team (MAGNET) have been conducting an investigation into a subject selling fentanyl throughout Lake Havasu City.
On September 19, 2024, at approximately 2:50 p.m., the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit conducted a traffic stop in the 2100 block of McCulloch Blvd North on a vehicle driven by 46-year-old Lake Havasu City resident James Krantz. During the course of the traffic stop, LHCPD K-9 “Echo” was utilized to perform an open-air sniff around the vehicle. As a result, Echo alerted to the odor of narcotic drugs inside the vehicle.
Detectives conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered approximately 11,000 suspected fentanyl pills, a useable quantity of methamphetamine, and various items of drug paraphernalia. The street value of the fentanyl pills is estimated to be $70,000.
Krantz was arrested and charged with possession of narcotic drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
During his initial appearance, Krantz was held on a $50,000 cash bond and transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
