At approximately 4:23 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018, a fire was reported near the Havasu Rivera Development at the end of Chemehuevi Wash. The initial company arrived and determined that a small brush fire was in an isolated area with limited access. Additional units were called to the scene including a second engine, Fire Boat, Battalion Chief, Mutual Aid from the Desert Hills Fire Department, and the Bureau of Land Management. The fire was contained to a 2.8-acre ravine located on State and Bureau of Reclamation land at approximately 5:00 p.m. The fire was turned over to BLM hand crews and helicopter to extinguish any further hot spots. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
