At approximately seven minutes after midnight, Thursday, August 17, 2017, neighbors in the 100 block of Voyager Lane reported a fire. The occupants were able to evacuate the residence safely, but one family pet was lost in the fire. The first arriving fire company reported the structure was fully engulfed in flames. A small structure next to the house was also involved. Powerlines to the house were burning and eventually fell over the firefighter’s hose lines.
Four Engine Companies, one Truck Company, and a Battalion Chief responded to the incident and gained control of the fire within 30 minutes. Fire crews also protected the neighbor’s house to the north. That house and a boat sustained heat damage. There were no reported injuries to the firefighters.
CERT responded to the fire to assist with Rehab duties for the firefighters. Crews remained on the scene to conduct salvage operations. Damages were a total loss of the structure and contents. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
