On October 22, 2021 at approximately 7:27 a.m. Lake Havasu City Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Bluegrass Dr. and Hornet Dr. for a reported traffic accident involving a pedestrian. Officers arrived on scene and found that a pickup truck struck a juvenile who was riding a push scooter through the intersection. The Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Crash Investigation Team responded to the scene to conduct the investigation.

Investigators determined that a 2009 GMC 2500 was travelling eastbound on Hornet Dr. when it struck a 12-year-old juvenile who was riding a push scooter southbound on Bluegrass Dr. The juvenile suffered serious injuries, including multiple broken bones, and was transported to a local hospital, where he was then flown to a Las Vegas hospital for further treatment. Impairment is not considered a factor; however, the collision remains under investigation and no citations have been issued at this time.
