KIDNAPPING INVESTIGATION LEADS TO ARREST IN CALIFORNIA
November 15, 2024

On November 12, 2024, at approximately 8:11 PM, Lake Havasu City Police Officers responded to the 3800 block of Bear Drive regarding a reported kidnapping. Upon arrival, officers discovered that two juveniles had been taken from the scene by their father, who did not have custody of them. Additionally, the children's safety was of concern to the reporting party.

Officers immediately searched the area to locate the vehicle involved in the incident but were unsuccessful. The Criminal Investigations Unit then took over the investigation. During the course of the investigation, detectives determined that the father had taken the children to a family member’s residence in Southern California. Officers dispatched to that location confirmed the children were safe and unharmed. An arrest warrant for two counts of kidnapping was issued and entered into the National Crime Information Center database.

On November 14, 2024, the suspect, Kevin Walton, a 40-year-old resident of Lake Havasu City, was arrested by the United States Marshals Service in Southern California. He is currently in custody, awaiting extradition to Mohave County on two counts of kidnapping.
