Detectives with the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on February 26, 2024, in Kingman, Az.
On February 26, 2024, during the late morning hours, officers with the Kingman Police Department were dispatched to a 911 call of a bank robbery that just occurred in the 2400 block of Hualapai Mountain Rd., in Kingman, Az where the suspect brandished a firearm.
The suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and was observed by witnesses leaving in a gray truck. Officers later encountered the suspect and the vehicle at a business in the 2500 block of Kingman Ave. Upon contact with the suspect, the suspect brandished a firearm and Kingman Officers discharged their duty-issued firearms, striking the suspect several times. The suspect, whose identity is currently unknown, was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center and later transferred to Sunrise Medical Center in critical condition.
Investigators subsequently learned that a second subject was in the vehicle when it fled from the bank. This second subject has not been located and is still outstanding. There is no description available of this second subject, but the community is urged to use caution and report any unusual or suspicious behavior. This second subject should be considered armed and dangerous.
No officers were injured during this incident. The investigation is ongoing, and the names of the officers involved in the incident are not being released at this time. It is standard protocol to have an outside agency investigate an officer-involved shooting incident.
