Lake Havasu City is proud to announce that it has been awarded a $969,750 grant from Arizona State Parks and Trails through the State Lake Improvement Fund (SLIF) program for accessibility improvements at Rotary Community Park.
The planned improvements include complete reconstruction of the two northern parking lots, a new restroom with easily accessible entry points, widened sidewalks, replacement of buoys, new shade structures, outdoor showers, and seating areas to enhance ADA accessibility and the overall park experience for residents and visitors. Additionally, Mobi-mats are placed in key areas to improve access to the lake for individuals using non-motorized vehicles and wheelchairs, making it easier for them to cross the sand and reach the lake.
Community feedback played a significant role in identifying the need for improved accessibility and navigability in the parks as part of a broader effort to improve parks in the city. In response, the city’s grants division sought funding opportunities to bring meaningful improvements to Rotary Community Park.
“This grant will allow us to improve the northern parking areas of Rotary Beach,” said Grants Manager Vijette Saari. “We’re excited to enhance mobility for individuals with disabilities, families with strollers, and all community members who want to enjoy our recreational spaces.”
The project is currently under cultural review with Arizona State Parks and Trails, and the city anticipates work to begin in the coming months.
