LAKE HAVASU CITY EARNED ACHIEVEMENT FOR EXCELLANCE IN FINANCIAL REPORTING
Lake Havasu City earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. Lake Havasu City prepares this financial report, so residents have easy access to information that explains where the City’s resources come from and how they are used to provide services to its residents.
“Administrative Services Director Jill Olsen and her team work very hard to ensure the public can easily monitor the City’s finances. Because we are transparent with our financial reporting, our residents can hold us accountable and ensure our public resources are handled in a fiscally conservative manner. I am very proud of this notable achievement and grateful for our award-winning staff that make this possible,” says City Manager Jess Knudson.
The CAFR is judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users to read the CAFR. The GFOA is a major professional association servicing the needs of nearly 20,000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, Illinois, and Washington D.C.
The CAFR is available to view on the Lake Havasu City’s website.
