With a second wave of business closures, the need to support Lake Havasu City’s community is even more dire. Various businesses have yet again come face to face with uncertainty, leaving them no choice but to succumb to furloughing or terminating employees. Luckily for Lake Havasu City and it’s incredible support organizations, help is just a phone call away. The LHC Resource Alliance is still going strong, providing assistance to those who need it most.
The LHC Resource Alliance, housed by the City of Lake Havasu, is comprised of the Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce, River Cities United Way, Havasu Community Health Foundation, and Better Business Bureau. The group is actively providing wrap-around support to the community during the COVID-19 crisis.
To date, the alliance has funneled dozens of business support calls, provided emergency food to thousands, and given thousands of dollars in grant funding. River Cities United Way has distributed funds to support both individuals and businesses, while Better Business Bureau has given grants for small businesses and entrepreneurs. The heartfelt appreciation from the community after receiving this support has been truly spectacular.
“As a small business, we didn’t know what we were going to do. We just opened not too long ago and now having to close down has put us in a place of not knowing if our business is going to survive. With the help of this money, we were able to make it through the closure and keep our doors open. Thank you for everything, it means so much to us,” shared one very thankful local business.
An individual who called needing support to get his water service turned on after a hospital stay was equally as grateful.
“Thank you so much. I just came back from the hospital, I’m 83 years old and I did not know how I was going to catch up. This is a wonderful thing you are doing for our community and you literally saved my life by having my water turned back on so quickly,” he shared.
In order to keep supporting our community through these hard times, additional funds are needed. The alliance is calling on the community to continue spreading the word, to keep sharing the flyer, and keep referring anyone in need. These dollars stay local, helping our friends, neighbors, and businesses stay afloat during this challenging time.
