On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at approximately noon, the Lake Havasu City Fire Department was dispatched to a desert rescue at S.A.R.A. Park for a female hiker with a broken leg requiring assistance to return to the trailhead.
Two engine companies, two rescue side-by-sides, an ambulance, and a Battalion Chief responded to the S.A.R.A. Park trailhead. Crews located the injured hiker within one hour. Onsite medical treatment was provided before she was transported to a designated landing zone, as the rugged terrain made evacuation difficult.
The Mohave County Sheriff's Search and Rescue team assisted fire crews with extrication efforts, enabling the hiker’s safe transfer to the landing zone. From there, she was airlifted to the hospital by medical helicopter for further evaluation and treatment.
