LHCFD AWARDED GOVERNOR OFFICE OF HIGHWAY SAFETY GRANT FOR EXTRACTION TOOLS
October 21, 2024

Early this year, Lake Havasu City, through the Fire Department and Grants Division, submitted a grant application to the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for consideration in Arizona’s 2025 Highway Safety Plan for the purchase of battery-powered extrication tools for highway safety emergency medical services. After a review of the proposals submitted, GOHS awarded the Fire Department $18,815.00, covering the cost of one extrication tool.

According to the award letter from GOHS, the proposal was carefully considered with others by an evaluation team that reviewed agency performance, program priority area, problem identification, supporting fiscal/data documentation, consistency of reporting, and available funding levels.

"We are grateful for the Governor's Office of Highway Safety's investment in our department and the safety of Lake Havasu City residents," said Fire Chief Pete Pilafas. "These funds are crucial in our mission to provide the highest level of service possible. The new equipment will make a tangible difference in our response efforts, ultimately saving lives and property."
