The Lake Havasu City Police Department would like to congratulate one of their own for recently receiving his United States Citizenship.  Detention Officer Paul Ledger moved to the United States from England approximately nine years ago with his wife Dorothy. Ledger was a firefighter in England and worked for the South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service for thirty years before deciding to relocate to the United States. 

Ledger started with the Lake Havasu City Police Department in September 2013 and has worked as a detention officer in the jail since that time. Ledger had a visa to work in the United States and the visa was scheduled to expire in another year. Ledger started the process of becoming a U.S. Citizen in October 2016 and was officially sworn in during a ceremony in Phoenix on Friday August 18, 2017. 

The path to becoming a United States Citizen involves multiple steps. The individual must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend English as well as have knowledge and understanding of U.S. history and government. There is a verbal test involving these topics the individual must also pass as part of the process. The individual must be of good moral character and believe in the principles of the Constitution of the United States.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department would like to congratulate Detention Officer Paul Ledger for his accomplishment and recognize his dedication to the community of Lake Havasu City.
