On June 11, 2019, the Police Department hosted 40 high school students from across Arizona that are participating in ASU @ Lake Havasu's Criminal Justice Camp.
The students started the day by observing and participating in a scenario based Law Enforcement simulation encounter where they learned how to make judgemental decisions when applying force. The students were then welcomed by Chief Dan Doyle, where he addressed the importance of setting goals early and often to ensure that a career in Criminal Justice is achievable. Various Members of the Lake Havasu City Police Department also addressed the students and highlighted special operations that take place within the Lake Havasu City Police Department, to include Dispatch operations, Jail operations, SWAT tactics and uniforms, Traffic enforcement, and recruitment information. In addition to the presentations, the students were afforded the opportunity to tour the Lake Havasu City Police Dept., where they got to experience the day to day operations.
The Lake Havasu City Police Department would like to thank all of the students and sponsors, as well as ASU @ Lake Havasu for allowing them the opportunity to present and educate the students in attendance.
