Man Arrested for Child Abuse
January 06, 2017

On December 16, 2016, at approximately 7:00 p.m., detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit conducted a child abuse investigation after the police department was notified by staff at Havasu Regional Medical Center of possible child abuse.

During the investigation, it was discovered that a 4-month-old girl was being cared for by her father, 20-year-old Corey Salewsky, during the time frame when the baby is believed to have been injured. When the child’s grandparents arrived at the home, they noticed their granddaughter was acting unusual and appeared very lethargic. The grandparents immediately took her to the hospital where doctors discovered some internal and external injuries.

As a result of the investigation, detectives arrested Corey Salewsky for two counts of child abuse.  The 4-month-old was transported to a hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada, and remains in critical condition.

Salewsky had his initial appearance on December 16, 2016, and is being held on a $250,000 cash only bond.  Salewsky was transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
