On December 19, 2015, a Lake Havasu City police officer conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Jamaica Boulevard South. During the traffic stop, the driver was found to have a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. During an inventory of the vehicle, officers located 11 cans of spray paint, numerous paint tips, cloth gloves, and an envelope containing several graffiti drawings and letter configurations. The vehicle was also a match to a vehicle observed on surveillance cameras during a graffiti case in early December, 2015.
Officers from the Street Crimes Unit responded to the scene and compared the drawings to the recent graffiti reports and were able to link the driver to 15 recent graffiti cases. The graffiti cases include spray painted graffiti such as “NHD,” “two timz,” “2tmz,” “streets r mine,” and “fu@# the police.” Also, found during the inventory of the vehicle was a duffle bag containing 70 grams of methamphetamine, drug ledgers, drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and one firearm.
Arrested during the traffic stop was 35-year-old Timothy Springfield. Springfield was arrested and charged with possession of dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs for sale, transportation of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of marijuana, possession of a weapon during a drug offense, failure to disclose a firearm to law enforcement when asked, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, fifteen counts of making graffiti, and possession of graffiti implements.
During his initial appearance, Springfield was held with no bond and transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
