On August 10, 2016, the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit conducted a child molestation investigation after the police department was notified of unlawful sexual activity involving a 6-year old female and the boyfriend of the child’s mother.  Detectives conducted a forensic interview with the victim who disclosed she was inappropriately touched multiple times within the past month. 

As a result of the investigation 48-year old Gien Smith was arrested for two counts of sexual conduct with a minor under the age of 15. During his initial appearance, Smith was held on no bond and transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
