Man Arrested for Weapon and Drug Charges

On January 13, 2016, at approximately 7:07 p.m., a Lake Havasu City Police Officer contacted 34-year-old David Marotta sitting inside his vehicle in the 80 block of Acoma Boulevard. During the contact, Marotta was found to be in possession of 13.8 grams of heroin and $3,965 in currency.

Detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, which is part of the Mohave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Team (MAGNET), served a drug-related search warrant on Marotta’s vehicle.

Inside of the vehicle, detectives located and seized approximately 13 grams of heroin, 1 gram of methamphetamine, and a firearm. The total street value of all the illegal drugs was approximately $2,800.

David Marotta was arrested and charged with two counts of the sale of narcotic drugs, possession of narcotic drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs for sale, misconduct involving weapons, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  

At his initial appearance, Marotta was held with no bond and transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
