NO CHANGE IN PROPOSED CITY PROPERTY TAX RATE

A Truth in Taxation notice is published to inform Lake Havasu City property owners of the City’s proposed property tax levy for the upcoming fiscal year. Lake Havasu City is proposing that the property tax rate remain unchanged from the previous year. 

The amount of property tax paid by Lake Havasu City property owners to the City is determined by two factors: the property tax rate, as determined by the City, and the assessed value, as determined by the County. Although the City is proposing to keep the property tax rate the same, there is an anticipated increase in total property taxes collected by the City based on increased property values. 

Most property owners will experience little change in the City portion of their property tax bill, if the City’s property tax rate remains the same. For example, property owners with a property assessed at $100,000 can expect to pay an additional $3.04 for the year if the property tax rate remains unchanged.

About 6.7 cents of every dollar in general property taxes paid by Lake Havasu City property owners goes to the City. Property taxes collected by the City help fund City services like police, fire, and parks. The remaining 93.3 cents of every dollar of general property taxes paid by property owners, which is not controlled by the City, goes to the public schools, county, community college and various special taxing districts. 

Interested citizens are invited to attend the public hearing on Tuesday, June 25, at 5:30 p.m., at the Lake Havasu City Municipal Courthouse, 92 Acoma Blvd., Lake Havasu City, Arizona.

TRUTH IN TAXATION HEARING NOTICE OF TAX INCREASE

In compliance with section 42-17107, Arizona Revised Statutes, Lake Havasu City is notifying its property taxpayers of Lake Havasu City’s intention to raise its primary property taxes over last year’s level. Lake Havasu City is proposing an increase in primary taxes of $301,578 or 4.7%.

For example, the proposed tax increase will cause Lake Havasu City’s primary property taxes on a $100,000 home to be $67.18.  Without the proposed tax increase, the total taxes that would be owed on a $100,000 home would have been $64.14.

This proposed increase is exclusive of increased primary property taxes received from new construction. The increase is also exclusive of any changes that may occur from property tax levies for voter approved bonded indebtedness or budget and tax overrides.

All interested citizens are invited to attend the public hearing on the tax increase that is scheduled to be held June 25, 2024, 5:30 p.m., at the Lake Havasu City Municipal Courthouse, 92 Acoma Blvd., Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
