One Arrested for Bank Robbery
January 26, 2017

On January 25, 2017, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Lake Havasu City Police Officers responded to the Bank of America at 10 South Acoma Boulevard for a robbery that had just occurred. One white male suspect presented a handwritten note to a teller demanding an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect did not display any type of weapon. The suspect fled the bank on foot northbound.

While searching the area, officers quickly located items of clothing the suspect took off and discarded behind a nearby gas station, along with some other items of evidence. Detectives were able to view surveillance video and interviewed several witnesses. Within an hour of the robbery the suspect was positively identified as 43-year old Lake Havasu City resident Peter D. Amy.

Police and SWAT officers surrounded the area of the Royal Inn at 2190 Birch Square where Amy was known to be staying. While evacuating rooms at the hotel, Amy was contacted and taken into custody without incident. Two other occupants of the hotel room were detained for investigation but later released after confirming they were not involved in the robbery.

A search warrant was served on the room occupied by Amy and additional evidence was collected.  The investigation is still ongoing.

Peter Amy had his initial appearance on January 26, 2017, and is being held on $50,000 bond.   Amy was transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
