On February 19, 2016, at approximately 1:30 a.m. Lake Havasu City Police officers were dispatched to an injury accident at Highway 95 and Industrial Boulevard.
The investigation revealed that a blue 2003 Toyota Tundra was travelling northbound on Highway 95 when it swerved into oncoming traffic and collided with a blue Mazda RX8, which was travelling southbound on Highway 95. When officers arrived on scene, they contacted both of the drivers involved in the collision and determined this may have been an intentional act.
Due to the circumstances, investigators from the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team and detectives from the Criminal Investigation Unit responded to the scene for further investigation.
The investigation revealed that the driver of the Toyota Tundra, 22-year-old Ryan Lamprecht, was in a relationship with the 30-year-old female driver of the Mazda. The investigation revealed that Lamprecht and the victim were involved in a domestic dispute just prior to the collision. Evidence on scene suggested that Lamprecht swerved left of center and intentionally struck the victim’s vehicle. After the vehicles came to rest, Lamprecht exited his vehicle and attempted to strangle the female victim. Investigators determined that alcohol appeared to be a factor in the collision. Both subjects were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Lamprecht was arrested upon release from the hospital.
Lamprecht was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault per domestic violence, and driving under the influence. Lamprecht was held at the police station pending his initial appearance.
