The Mohave County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the human remains that were found in the desert area north of Bentley Boulevard, on December 21, 2015, as that of 76-year old Richard Scartozzi. The forensic pathologist was able to identify the dental records and skull as a match to Richard Scartozzi.
Richard was reported missing by family members on November 1, 2015, after he had not been seen or heard from since 3:00 a.m. On December 21, 2015, a citizen reported to police that human remains were found in the desert area. The Lake Havasu City Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit conducted the investigation. The medical examiner listed the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head. As a result of the investigation by the Criminal Investigations Unit, the case is determined to be a suicide.
