The Lake Havasu City Fire Department is pleased to invite the public to its Inaugural Dedication and Push-in Ceremony for its new fire engine. The ceremony takes place next Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Fire Station 3, located at 3620 Buena Vista Avenue, where the engine is housed to service the south side of town.
Although this is the first-time Lake Havasu City is celebrating this ceremonial apparatus push-in, this practice is a time-honored tradition in the fire service dating back to the era of horse-drawn engines. Horses were unable to back-into the bays after returning from calls, leaving fire personnel to manually push the equipment into the bays themselves.
"We are excited to add this new engine to our fleet and to continue providing the highest level of service to our community," said Fire Chief Pete Pilafas. "We invite the public to join us for the dedication and push-in ceremony to learn more about the new engine and to meet the firefighters who will be serving the south side of the city."
The event includes the dedication of the new engine, a push-in ceremony, and a tour of the fire station. The public is encouraged to attend and enjoy fellowship with the Lake Havasu City firefighters and help us honor those crews before us that started this tradition.
