May 19, 2016

At approximately 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2016, a fire was reported by several citizens in the 100 block of Cypress Drive. The first arriving fire company reported the house was well involved with fire and called a second alarm. Five Engine Companies, one Truck Company, two Battalion Chiefs and one Division Chief responded to the fire and gained control within approximately one hour.  The occupants were not at home at the time of the fire. Residents of the two houses on either side of the fire were evacuated. The fire did spread to a back yard of a neighboring house, but was quickly extinguished. There were no reported injuries to the firefighters. CERT responded to the fire to assist with rehab duties for the firefighters. Crews remained on the scene an additional three hours conducting salvage operations.  Damages were confined to the garage area. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
