On June 8, 2022, at 1:07 p.m., Lake Havasu City Police officers responded to the area of Acoma Blvd. and Mesquite Ave. in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, in reference to a road rage incident involving a firearm.
The victim reported a black male driving a silver Dodge Charger confronted her while traveling on Acoma Blvd. in the area of Constellation Dr. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly pointed a handgun at the victim, who was traveling with her two children. The victim provided officers with a description of the suspect and his vehicle.
Officers were able to identify the suspect as 33-year-old Lake Havasu City resident Carlos Cullens. With the assistance of detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit, officers were able to arrest Cullens in the 2000 block of Industrial Blvd. A search warrant was served at his residence, and two handguns and a shotgun were recovered. Due to a previous domestic violence arrest conviction, Cullens was not allowed to possess firearms.
As a result of the investigation, Carlos Cullens was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Disorderly Conduct with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon by a Prohibited Possessor, and Assault-Endangerment.
During Cullens’ initial appearance, he was held on a $25,000 cash-only bond and transferred to the custody of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
