Silent Witness Offers $1000 Reward in Arson Investigations

The Lake Havasu City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in helping to solve multiple cases of suspicious fires which appear to be arson, over the past two months. The incidents occurred between January 23, 2017 and March 2, 2017.  Officers responded to ten suspicious fires around Lake Havasu City.  The following is a list of locations where the suspicious fires have occurred:

January 23 – Dumpster fire in the 2900 block of Maricopa Ave.

January 30 – Palm tree fire in the 3400 block of Hassayampa Dr.

January 30 – Dumpster fire in the 2900 block of Maricopa Ave.

February 12 – Dumpster fire in the 1800 block of Kiowa Blvd. N.

February 16 – Palm tree fire in the 1600 block of Avalon Ave

February 17 – Palm tree fire in the 1400 block of Tanqueray Dr.

February 17 – Palm tree fire in the 3000 block of Simitan Dr.

February 23 – Storage building fire in the 2200 block of Victoria Farms Rd.

February 27 – Brush fire in the wash in the 3300 block of Medicine Bow Dr.

March 2 – Home under construction fire in the 3900 block of Cherry Tree Blvd.

Arson is a serious crime and sentencing can range from fines up to 12 years in prison. These incidents remain under investigation by the Lake Havasu City Police Department Criminal Investigations Unit and the Fire Department. There was a rash of suspicious fires in October of 2016 that were similar in nature but no one has been arrested in those cases. It is unknown at this time if these incidents are related. The community is asked to remain alert and report any suspicious activity. 

Silent Witness will pay a cash reward of up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect(s) involved.  Anonymous information can be called into Lake Havasu Silent Witness at 928-854-TIPS (8477). Citizens can utilize the police department’s anonymous text messaging tip service by texting LHCPD and your message to “CRIMES” or 274637.  Tips can also be submitted anonymously through a web page based tip service at www.tipsoft.com or via the “TipSubmit” mobile application. Anyone using Android, Windows or Apple platforms can download the LHCPD app and submit a tip through the app as well.
