Detectives with the Bullhead City Police Department have been called in to investigate the shooting incident that occurred this morning. It is standard protocol to have an outside agency investigate an officer-involved shooting incident. 

On October 9, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m., detectives with the Lake Havasu City Police Department were conducting a follow-up on a missing person case in the area of Craggy Wash.  During the investigation, they encountered a subject who opened fire on them.  The detectives returned fire, and the subject was pronounced deceased on the scene.

None of the detectives were struck by gunfire, but they were transported to the hospital with minor injuries sustained during the incident. There is no current threat to the community due to this incident.
