Forty-four years ago, on March 29, 1973, the last 2,500 troops were withdrawn from South Vietnam; thus ending military involvement in what is now the longest war in our country’s history! In honor of our Vietnam Veterans, Lake Havasu City and various veteran organizations hosted a pancake breakfast for all veterans and their families this morning. Lake Havasu City has been a Vietnam War Commemorative Partner since 2013. Mayor Mark Nexsen presented proclamations to several veteran organizations, proclaiming Vietnam Veterans’ Day in Lake Havasu City, and urged all citizens both in public ceremonies and in private thoughts and prayers to gratefully acknowledge this group of veterans and all veterans for their sacrifice and unselfish devotion to duty. The Marine Corps League Det. 757 donated $200 to the Vietnam Veteran Commemorative Committee for future events. Lake Havasu City thanks and honors all veterans and the many veteran organizations and volunteers dedicated to serving our veterans in this community.
