On April 28, 2023, at approximately 12:40 p.m., Lake Havasu City Police Officers responded to a vehicle collision on Highway 95 near mile marker 181 (in between Acoma Blvd. S. and Mulberry Ave.). Initial information received from callers was that the vehicles involved were a sedan and a truck pulling a flatbed trailer, there were multiple injuries, and one person was unconscious.

Lake Havasu City is undergoing a water and wastewater utility rate study. The study determines whether sufficient revenues are recovered through our rates to pay for the continued operation of our municipal water and wastewater system. To increase public understanding of rate plans, please join the project team online or in-person for an open house-style public Q&A presentation on Monday, May 1st, at the Council Chambers at the Police Department located at 2360 McCulloch Blvd. North. There are two presentations scheduled, so that residents can come and go throughout the afternoon. Presentations are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. 5:30 p.m. The project team will share an overview of the rate study and answer any questions you may have.

The Lake Havasu City Municipal Airport is preparing for the upcoming runway closure. The closure is in effect from 12:01 a.m. on May 1, 2023 until June 11, 2023. The airport is closed to general aviation operations during this period.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department would like to remind residents about our Neighborhood Watch Program. The program encourages citizens to be part of the solution and be that extra set of eyes and ears to help reduce crime in their neighborhood and report suspicious activity. A Neighborhood Watch group can be formed around any geographical unit; a block, a cul-de-sac, an apartment, a street or a business complex. Any community resident can join. The program encourages neighbors to get to know each other as well as get to know routines so that any out of place activity can be reported and investigated.

On April 12, 2023, at approximately 9:53 p.m. officers with the Lake Havasu City Police Department were dispatched to an address within the 2200 block of Fremont Dr. regarding a shooting. Preliminary information received from the caller indicated that a male subject was observed in the front yard of a residence firing several shots from a rifle.

On April 7, 2023, at approximately 11:45 a.m. Officers with the Lake Havasu City Police Department responded to the 2800 block of Janet Drive to check the welfare of a male subject who was possibly suicidal. When officers arrived, the male subject was observed in the backyard and appeared to be holding a handgun. Officers believed that the male fired a couple of shots in their direction, then proceeded to barricade himself inside his residence. As a result of a possible weapons offense, the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s SWAT team responded to the 2800 block of Janet Drive in an attempt to contact the male subject, identified as 53-year-old Lake Havasu City resident Damon Harrison. At approximately 2:20 p.m., Harrison was safely taken into custody without incident. None of the officers involved were injured in the incident.

On April 11, 2023, Sergeant Lorne Jackson with the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Community Services Unit, received recognition from the 100 Club of Arizona for the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Sergeant Jackson was presented with an Honorable Mention Award by Programs Manager Rainee Crabtree, with several members of the department, and City Officials in attendance.
