With the increase of arrests for counterfeit prescription medication and fentanyl pills in the community, the Lake Havasu City Police Department would like to provide some educational resources to help combat the sales and use of these potentially lethal drugs.

Lake Havasu City has various Commission and Board positions available for citizens to serve and participate in the process of Lake Havasu City government!

On Thursday, May 12, 2022 at approximately 9:36 p.m. Lake Havasu City Police Department officers responded to the 3400 block of Big Chief Dr. for a report of a shooting that had just occurred. Multiple officers responded to the scene and discovered that 28 year old Thane Stanley and 56 year old Richard Sikkenga (both Lake Havasu City residents) were involved in a domestic altercation at the location. During the altercation Sikkenga produced a handgun and shot Stanley. Sikkenga then called 9-1-1 and reported the incident. Responding officers attempted life saving measures but Stanley succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

On Wednesday, May 11, 2022 Mayor Cal Sheehy visited New Day School South infant and toddler development professionals to commend the completion and success of the LA Paz/Mohave Language Development Project, funded by a First Things First early education grant.

In an ongoing effort to maintain the highest-quality airport infrastructure, the Lake Havasu City Municipal Airport is closing the runway nightly from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m., starting May 16th thru May 19th, May 23rd thru May 26th and May 31st thru June 3rd, 2022, to complete an erosion control project.

On April 12, 2022, at approximately 6:20 p.m., with assistance from the department’s Street Crimes Unit, Detectives located and arrested the male subject, identified as 33-year-old Lake Havasu City resident Joshua Bergstrom in the area of Armour Drive and Jamaica Boulevard South. He was charged with Sales of Narcotic Drugs and released from custody after he posted a $10,000.00 cash-only bond.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department is conducting enhanced traffic and DUI enforcement during the Cinco de Mayo holiday, Wednesday, May 4, through Friday, May 6, 2022. Funding for this effort is provided by a grant awarded by the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety.
