Temporary road closures of Mesquite Boulevard and Rivera Boulevard are required for Public Works Infrastructure Improvements. To reduce the impact on local businesses and motorists, contractors continue to work at night. Beginning next Tuesday, September 17 at 7:00 p.m., through Wednesday, September 18, at 3:00 a.m., Mesquite Boulevard is closed to thru traffic from Civic Center Drive to Moyo Drive and Rivera Boulevard is closed from McCulloch Boulevard to Injo Drive.

The Lake Havasu City Fire Department (LHCFD) is hosting an open house recruitment event on October 2, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the LHCFD Training Facility located at 2065 Kiowa Boulevard North. The event is designed to provide the community with an opportunity to learn more about the rewarding career of firefighting and the recruitment process for the LHCFD.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., Monday, August 26, a garage fire was reported by witnesses driving in the 3500 block of Oro Grande Boulevard. The first arriving fire company reported smoke and flames coming from the garage doors of a double RV garage. Five Engine Companies, one Medic Unit, and a Battalion Chief responded to the incident and gained control of the fire within 25 minutes. The occupants evacuated the house safely. There were no reported injuries to the firefighters. Crews remained on the scene an additional two hours conducting salvage operations. The cause of the fire is under investigation. CERT Crews also responded to provide support to the working firefighters.

A temporary closure of Jack Hardie Park, located at Baron Drive, is required for Parks and Recreation playground equipment improvements. Crews will begin the removal of old playground equipment starting next Monday, August 26, to prepare for the replacement and installation of new playground equipment and safety surface to be installed mid to late September. The park is anticipated to be reopened at the end of September.
