Our City’s Census Action Committee reached out to a few schools in the community to participate in some "Everyone Counts Census 2020" contests. Elementary school students got to do poster and coloring contests, while junior high and high school students had essay contests.
The essay contest challenged the junior high school students to write a 500 word essay, and the high school students a 650 word essay on the question of “What is the Census and how does it impact your family, your schools, and your community?”
In an effort to reach busy parents and educate the kids at the same time, we offered these contests to encourage the students to talk to their parents about the Census, and remind them to respond for their households. By educating the kids now about Census, we are helping to shape their future for years to come.
Congratulations to all contest winners!
