At approximately 5:30 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2024, a neighbor reported a house fire in the 3900 block of Challenger Drive. The first arriving fire company reported smoke and flames coming from the rear of the home. Five engine companies, one medic unit, and a Battalion Chief responded to the incident and gained control of the fire within 25 minutes. Desert Hills Fire Department moved up to assist with other 911 calls during the incident. The occupants were not home at the time of the incident. There were no reported injuries to the firefighters. Crews remained on the scene for an additional two hours conducting salvage operations. The cause of the fire is under investigation. LHCFD CERT crews also responded with ten members to provide support and rehab duties for firefighters.

On October 6, 2024, at approximately 10:55 p.m., officers from the Lake Havasu City Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 2100 block of Barranca Drive. Upon arrival, officers found a male individual with a gunshot wound to the chest at the rear of the residence. Officers immediately administered lifesaving measures. Lake Havasu City Fire Department personnel arrived shortly after and transported the individual to the hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Lake Havasu City Parks and Recreation invites the public to attend a ribbon cutting hosted by the city through the Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Committee next Monday, October 7, at 9:00 a.m. at Jack Hardie Park, located at 2470 Baron Drive.

At approximately 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 23, 2024, the Lake Havasu City Fire Department was dispatched to a desert rescue at Sara Park. A female hiker was reported to be experiencing a heat-related injury and needed assistance. Two engine companies, two rescue side-by-sides, an ambulance, and the Battalion Chief responded to Sara Park and were able to locate the seven hikers within 12 minutes. Rescue side-by-sides assisted five of the hikers to the trailhead with no injuries. The remaining two hikers hiked back to the trailhead on their own.

On September 19, 2024, at approximately 2:50 p.m., the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit conducted a traffic stop in the 2100 block of McCulloch Blvd North on a vehicle driven by 46-year-old Lake Havasu City resident James Krantz. During the course of the traffic stop, LHCPD K-9 “Echo” was utilized to perform an open-air sniff around the vehicle. As a result, Echo alerted to the odor of narcotic drugs inside the vehicle. Detectives conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered approximately 11,000 suspected fentanyl pills, a useable quantity of methamphetamine, and various items of drug paraphernalia. The street value of the fentanyl pills is estimated to be $70,000.

The Lake Havasu City Police Department Street Crimes Unit has been investigating several incidents involving graffiti throughout Lake Havasu City. During the investigation, a lead developed and ultimately identified a subject involved in three separate incidents occurring in the city's downtown area. Several items were defaced in each of the incidents, including trash cans, electrical boxes, buildings, concrete wash drains, and concrete pillars. In two cases, the suspect utilized a ladder to gain access due to the location of the graffiti.
