Early this year, Lake Havasu City, through the Fire Department and Grants Division, submitted a grant application to the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for consideration in Arizona’s 2025 Highway Safety Plan for the purchase of battery-powered extrication tools for highway safety emergency medical services. After a review of the proposals submitted, GOHS awarded the Fire Department $18,815.00, covering the cost of one extrication tool.

On October 6, 2024, at approximately 10:55 P.M., officers from the Lake Havasu City Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 2100 block of Barranca Drive. Upon arrival, officers found a male individual with a gunshot wound to the chest at the rear of the residence. Officers immediately administered lifesaving measures. Lake Havasu Fire personnel arrived shortly after and transported the individual to the hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The Lake Havasu City Fire Department recently participated in an Insurance Services Office (ISO) evaluation of the structural fire suppression delivery system and proudly maintains the ISO rating of Class 2 for the community, effective November 1, 2024.

Detectives with the Bullhead City Police Department have been called in to investigate the shooting incident that occurred this morning. It is standard protocol to have an outside agency investigate an officer-involved shooting incident. On October 9, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m., detectives with the Lake Havasu City Police Department were conducting a follow-up on a missing person case in the area of Craggy Wash. During the investigation, they encountered a subject who opened fire on them. The detectives returned fire, and the subject was pronounced deceased on the scene.

On October 7, 2024, at approximately 2:45 p.m., officers from the Lake Havasu City Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the 2300 block of Palisades Drive. Initial reports indicated that an individual had been shot by two people who then fled the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered evidence that a person had sustained an injury, but no subjects were present at the scene.
