On August 14, 2024, at approximately 11:42 a.m., Lake Havasu City Police Officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of Havasupai Boulevard in reference to a single vehicle traffic collision. Upon officers’ arrival, the driver of the vehicle was found unconscious and not breathing. Officers removed the subject from the vehicle and began lifesaving measures. Lake Havasu City Fire Department arrived on scene and took over medical care for the subject, ultimately transporting them to the hospital. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, the subject was pronounced deceased.

On August 10, 2024, at approximately 1:49 a.m., Lake Havasu City Police Officers were dispatched to a residence in the area of the 1900 block of Spirit Lane in reference to a possible shooting that just occurred. Throughout the investigation, it was determined that a subject was removed from a house party at the location and later returned, firing several rounds into the residence. There were no injuries reported by anyone on scene.

Lake Havasu City reminds the community to continue to exercise caution while traveling on SR 95 near an open desert area and remain aware of the potential dangers from wild burros entering the highway. It is not uncommon for wild burros, large wildlife, or livestock to make their way into roadways as they look for water, food or shade. Motorists are encouraged to always use caution especially at night as animals are more prone to be active during the cooler nighttime hours. And please don’t stop to feed the burros, as this also draws them further into roadways.

Lake Havasu City would like to remind political candidates and property owners about the upcoming deadline for the removal of political signs. Political signs must be removed within fifteen days after the election to which they refer. All political signs for candidates not advancing to the General Election must be removed no later than August 14, 2024.

The Lake Havasu City Fire Department is pleased to invite the public to its Inaugural Dedication and Push-in Ceremony for its new fire engine. The ceremony takes place next Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Fire Station 3, located at 3620 Buena Vista Avenue, where the engine is housed to service the south side of town.

On February 16, 2024, officers with the Lake Havasu City Police Department began an investigation regarding a runaway juvenile male who left his residence on February 14, 2024, and had not returned. Over the course of several months, officers began following leads and received several Silent Witness tips where it was believed that this juvenile male was staying at a residence on Beefeater Drive.

On July 19th, 2024, at approximately 11:00 P.M., Lake Havasu City Police Department was dispatched to the area of SR 95 and Airport Center Boulevard in reference to a traffic collision involving two vehicles and a burro. Upon officers’ arrival, it was determined that a 2015 Kia Sol driven by 81-year-old Gary Fratus, was traveling northbound on SR 95 approaching Airport Center Boulevard when it struck a burro crossing the highway. The Kia then veered left into oncoming traffic and struck a large box truck head-on that was traveling southbound on SR 95.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, a UTV rollover was reported approximately 3.5 miles in the desert off Paseo De Oro. The single occupant of the UTV was in contact with a family member that provided the approximate location of the victim. Two engine companies, one medic unit, and a battalion chief responded to the incident. The two engine companies responded and located the victim with the assistance of the Mohave County Search and Rescue Team. The victim was removed from the desert by Search and Rescue and transported to the hospital by the LHCFD. An additional LHCFD Medic Unit was called to transport a bystander that experienced a medical emergency.
